TREATMENTS THAT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES

Dr Roberta Chow | Channel 9 Interview Australia
Monica Stokes MD on her Low Level Laser Therapy experience LLLT
22nd of December 2012 was the date my life changed and not for the better. I had gone to a work party; I had arrived late as I didn’t really want to be there, everyone had been drinking a lot. I was there an hour maybe less when I got up to go to the toilet, when I came back I went to sit down in my chair, and one of my co-workers pulled my chair away. I landed on concrete on my bottom, I could tell straight away what had happened had caused permanent and serious damage, it felt as if my spine had been compacted. I was in shock that someone would do something so stupid to me. I went to an osteopath the next week and started acupuncture; I did this for a year, nothing changed, I had lost range of movement in my spine and had pain that was sometimes bad sometimes not so bad, but always present. After a year I gave up on the osteo and acupuncture and did nothing for a while, I was still managing to walk around the lake a few times a week, and I still was able to walk at a good pace, so I just accepted that it wasn’t going to get any better. A friend told me about an osteopath he has seen and recommended me to go there, so I gave it another try. He was good, progress was slow, but after about a year I was back to feeling pretty ok, until…..I was rear ended in my car at an intersection, this sets the whole pain thing off again, the pain now was worse, running from the top of my spine to the bottom. I persisted with the osteo but around the winter off 2016 things started getting really bad, the pain was worse than it had ever been, I'm not sure if this was the work I was doing or if I was experiencing arthritis or if the disc had given way more, I remember sitting down one day and feeling this terrible pain in my lower back as I did, things were worse from there. I could not even walk at the speed I used to walk and walked like an old woman. I had spasms in my lower spine when I walked that were awful; I could not even sit down on my bottom, I had to semi lie, I was really a mess and was terrified this was going to be me for the rest of my life. I was told about low-level laser therapy by a friend and thought I'd give it a go as the osteopath had now referred me to an orthopedic surgeon and wanted me to have another MRI as his treatment wasn’t helping. I started seeing Karen for treatments around October of 2016. For a long time I really couldn’t tell if it was making any difference, but slowly I noticed changes, changes in how the pain was, different feelings in my body, pins and needles in my legs. Once when Karen was treating me, I felt a wave of feeling going through my lower body, really weird but apparently that was the nerves coming back to life as the inflammation subsided. It took some time I think I really started noticing the change I started being able to sit again, around March when my back spasms stopped when I walked, I have regained my speed of walking and most days I don’t feel the pain anymore. I am down to one treatment per week, I still can't do things like vacuuming without it playing up but I'm hoping in time this will come right as well. I only wish I had known about this treatment sooner and I highly recommend anyone who is in pain to try it.

A note to tell you how happy I am with the results of the treatment I have had with the laser. I have had no bad side effects at all. The change in my pain levels has been, at the least, astoundingly great. Going from too scared of the pain that would result from any sort of vehicle travel of any distance, to being able to travel to Auckland and back in the same day and have virtually no pain to speak of is great. When I first heard of low level laser I was very skeptical that a light would do me any good at all. I have tried all sorts of things to get improvement but nothing would work for any length of time, except of course huge amounts of pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs. I have gone from 12 doses of pills in a day to 3 in only 12 months of treatment. The most pleasant change is to my health in general. The laser is very good for my arthritis in my hands and joints. I appreciate that it was almost instant relief from my arthritis, it’s so nice to be able to use a hammer now and not suffer any lasting side effects that were sometimes for days. Now it’s only muscle fatigue that only last’s a few hours. It’s great to be able to work again almost pain free.
Thank you so much Phil.
I hurt my back just over 20 years ago and have been dealing with constant pain ever since. I've seen physio's, osteo's, chiropractors, etc, with no long lasting effects. After just two days of treatments at ATP I noticed significant improvements in mobility and pain relief. I had the first painfree nights sleep in 20 years. I can't wait to finish my treatments. I would recommend this to anybody. Thanks so much Karen

I can't recommend this treatment enough. After being involved in a car accident 4 months ago, I was finding my neck injury to only be getting worse with pain and stiffness increasing despite weekly physio sessions. 9 sessions of ATP later and I am 95% painfree with minimal stiffness. This is one of medicines best kept secrets!

I was amazed how fast the treatment worked. I hurt my back early in the morning and struggled around in pain till after work when Karen treated me with Low Level Laser. I was able to get off the treatment bed and straighten my back with ease. I felt immediate relief from the pain and stiffness in my back. I actually said "That's amazing! Have you got any pamphlets" ?

I limped in to my appointment and walked out just 1/2 an hour later!! Walking out of my doctor’s office one day I noticed the ladybug in the foyer. I almost just walked straight past but curiosity made me find out what the ladybug was about. I grabbed a brochure to read later. The brochure explained all about Low Level Laser Treatment (LLLT) offered at ATP Therapy. The theory behind it made sense but it seemed so easy, maybe even too easy. I remained sceptical about it working but made an appointment anyway. I am so thankful that I did! After five back operations over 11 years, I still have issues with my lower back and legs. My recent flair up in June last year meant that I had to quit my job and for months I just got worse and worse and took more and more painkillers just to cope with the basics of daily life. I could barely walk; I was getting round the house with a crutch or walking stick. I remember on a particularly bad day I walked to the kitchen and had to crawl back to my seat as I just couldn’t walk with all the pain. I was at the end of what I could cope with pain wise, and struggling mentally as the specialist had just told me there was nothing more they could do. The results of my first appointment brought me to tears. I had 7 hours pain free following that first appointment and it was amazing to be pain free after months of debilitating pain and all I had done was lie on the bed while Karen guided the laser light over the affected areas. With each appointment I had, the pain free time would last longer and longer, until it just stayed pain free. Even the numb patches in my right foot became less numb after being totally numb for 7 years! In total I had 10 sessions on my back and I now remain pain free most of the time. I've had a couple of sore patches since the treatments brought on by certain activities, but I've gone back to Karen and it settles down straight away. I will always have to be careful with my back due to the mess it was left in after all the surgeries but it’s such a relief to know there is a treatment that works. I’ve since starting seeing Karen again with a nerve injury in my neck/shoulder/arm and again ... it’s brilliant pain relief! LLLT works faster and better than any other treatment I have ever had. LLLT provides relief from pain better than any pill the doctor can prescribe. Don't hesitate, if you have pain from injury or medical condition give Karen a call today!
